Decide on your preferred meter location and where applicable, make quotation fee payment in order to progress application.
We'll meet you on-site as soon as possible to discuss your requirements and book in a date for the works.
You will have up to 90 days to send in your signed acceptance and pay for the works. We will contact you to agree a start date when the connection cost and acceptance is received.
On average, it takes 6-8 weeks from payment to carry out your works.
We will give you a call the week before works are due to start to make sure everything is ready.
Once we're finished, we'll re-turf, re-seed any grassed areas and replant any flower beds if we've disturbed them.
We will need the following in order to progress your application:
Quotation fee
When you request a gas connection service, you will be charged a non refundable quotation fee [where applicable] dependent on the type of work you require. This covers the analysis of the gas network and production of design for the works required. In most cases a physical survey will be undertaken prior to the quotation being issued.
Connection cost
When you have paid the quotation fee, we will provide you with a connection quote that is valid for 90 days. This may include the cost of an easement [where applicable] and we will require additional information such as your solicitors details that will act on your behalf. Please see easement information within the guidance section on our information hub.
We will work with you to meet your work delivery dates and will always offer you the earliest date available for the works. Where local traffic management or highway restrictions apply in your area we will let you know as this may increase the lead time before we start work.
For New Connections requests, we will provide you with a Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) for your property after you have accepted the quotation. You will need this MPRN when contacting your preferred energy supplier to arrange your gas meter installation.
Own and maintain the pipes which transport gas into homes and businesses. We are responsible up to the Emergency Control Valve (ECV), which is located before your gas meter.
Own the meter and the gas which is transported through our pipes and are responsible for the installation and maintenance of your gas meter. Your gas supplier will send you bills for the gas you use in your property.
Own the property and is responsible for the internal pipes from the gas meter to the gas appliances within the property.
