    • SAVS welcomes new Cadent partnership
    • £370,000 fund for Southend community services
    • 11 Centres for Warmth to help variety of community needs

Leading the way, Southend Association of Voluntary Services (SAVS) is joining forces with Cadent in a new partnership that will see funding of £370,000 over the next two years as part of Cadent’s Centres for Warmth programme.

SAVS will manage the investment that will be shared with ten other charities across Southend which will begin operating as additional Centres for Warmth locations.

Together the partnership will enable individuals to access a variety of resources, help and advice including income maximisation advice, carbon monoxide safety and priority services register information as well as energy efficiency advice.
The ten partners SAVS is working in partnership with and their services are:

    • Citizens Advice (Debt, Finance and Information & Guidance)
    • Southend Carers (Unpaid Carers)
    • South Essex Advocacy Services (Advocacy)
    • Send the Right Message (Special educational needs and disability)
    • Southend in Sight (Sight Loss Community)
    • Cake Club (Young Families)
    • Age Concern Southend (Older People)
    • Southend Foodbank (Emergency/Crisis)
    • One Love (Emergency/Crisis)
    • South Essex Community Hub

Roger Savage, Deputy CEO at SAVS said, Southend is known for its sun, beaches and ice cream but like other cities, it faces challenges too. This is a much needed boost to help those in the community who would benefit from extra support and advice during this cost of living crisis. We are pleased to be facilitating this funding, that we will co-ordinate between the ten charities to ensure our community receives the support needed in the right areas. The partners involved in the project have the resources, expertise and trusted relationships to best support the diverse communities and needs in Southend. We are proud to have such a thriving and vibrant Voluntary Sector in Southend, and this project projects can leverage and benefit from its reach.

Phil Burrows, Head of Social Vulnerability Social Programme at Cadent said, This is our first group partnership in London, and we are happy to be launching this Centre for Warmth partnership in Southend.

The beauty of this partnership is that it will help a broad variety of people catering to the various needs of customers, including marginalized communities across Southend. People will be able to access so much more support, help and advice through this partnership with SAVS and the other charities.

Partners join in the celbration to launch Centres for Warmth in Southend.

    Cadent

Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy. We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change. Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency. Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

    Future of Gas:

Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
