A pioneering green energy trial - the first of its kind in the UK - launched last night (27 February) could help cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions caused by heating homes. Led by gas network Cadent, in partnership with Northern Gas Networks and a consortium of technical experts, the HyDeploy project is exploring the potential of injecting zero-carbon hydrogen into the natural gas network.

Cadent has announced a five-year plan to replace ageing large diameter gas mains in West Thurrock. This weekend Cadent engineers will begin major repairs to gas mains in the City of London. Over the past few weeks there have been a number of gas escapes in the area, which require repairs to be made to joints on ageing gas mains.

People are being invited to find out more about essential work to future-proof the gas mains network in Hackney. The first phase of work to replace old large diameter gas mains with tough new pipes recently got underway in Chatsworth Road, Hackney, between Homerton Grove and Fletching Road.

Engineers from Cadent are poised to begin the final phase of a project to bring 21st century technology to an ancient Roman site and surrounding area. The final phase of the project will involve replacing approximately 350m of ageing gas mains in Verulamium Park, St Albans, between the Westminster Lodge Athletic Track Pavilion to just before the park exit onto Holywell Hill.

Monday (12 February) will mark the start of a major gas mains upgrade in Stoke-on-Trent that will keep local people warm and safe for decades to come. Local gas network Cadent will be renewing gas pipes in A5271 Porthill Road, Stoke. The work is expected to take until September.

One of Leicester’s biggest amateur football clubs has joined forces with local gas network Cadent to bring hope to people with dementia. GNG FC, one of the country’s biggest black and minority ethnic football clubs, is hosting a charity soccer match at its flagship Riverside ground, off Braunstone Lane East, on Friday (9 February).
