Emergency work – Trafalgar Square, London

Gas emergency engineers from Cadent, are carrying emergency repair work in Trafalgar Square following a report of a smell of gas in the area. Work started today (01/09/25) and is expected to last at least a week. All attempts are being made to complete the work as quickly as possible.

There is a lane closure from Cockspur Street to the east side of Trafalgar Square. There will be no access to east Trafalgar Square from Cockspur Street. Diversions are in place agreed with Transport for London and Westminster Council.

No gas supplies will be impacted during the repair work.

Please check back for updates on traffic management amendments as the lane closure layout may change if required due to the location of the gas escape.
