We are the UK’s largest gas distribution network, bringing gas to 11 million homes and businesses. We manage a network of more than 82,000 miles of pipes, most of them underground, which transport gas throughout the North West, West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England and North London.
Digital twins (DTs) have a long and rich history where the concept, capabilities and accessibility have developed alongside technological advances. Currently, an estimated 75% of enterprises have adopted DT technology in some form, but there are still multiple opportunities for development and integration. The DPLA concept and implementation are intrinsically linked to DT technology with the ambition to produce DTs of the UK GDNs.
